Rangers sign Ken Caminiti for 1 year, $3.25 million

This was an excellent move for the Rangers - Caminiti is a good hitter when he does play, and if the Rangers give him a lot of time to rest, he's a great pickup.  They did the smart thing and signed him to a 1 year deal, and the salary is also surprisingly low, given Caminiti's upside.  He's capable of playing about 90 games at a very solid level .290/.380/.510 (AVG/OBP/SLG), which is excellent for a third baseman.  The Rangers can make or break this move by the way they use him - if they let him start every day, they're asking for trouble, but they will most likely give him a lot of days off, and hope for the best.  This would have been a great move for any team without a stand-out third baseman, and he fits perfectly for the Rangers.
