Transaction Analysis

Pirates re-sign Francisco Cordova for 1 year

Cordova has always had a big upside, and the Pirates handled his situation this off-season perfectly - decline the option and re-sign him for less money. This guy did have an ERA under 4.00 in both 1997 and 1998, and he's still only 28 years old. If Cordova and Jason Schmidt can ever get healthy at the same time, the Pirates will have a pretty good top of the rotation.
