Rangers sign Andres Galarraga for 1 year,
$6.5 million
Galarraga was the feel-good story of the year, but
he's not a top-notch hitter anymore. His numbers from last
season look pretty good, but good-hitting first baseman are a dime a dozen
these days. The Rangers could have gotten a AAA first baseman
- that player would probably not have hit as well, but the savings
could have been used in other ways. On the other hand, this
year is only for a single year, and the worst that could happen is
that they're down $6.5 million, which, although painful sounding to
you and me, isn't a really big deal.

will make fans angry just thinking about it.
