Blue Jays re-sign Alex Gonzalez for 4 years, $20 million

It’s hard to imagine Alex Gonzalez commanding $5 million per season.  However, in this market, that does seem to be the going rate of somebody with his talents.  He’s surely not going to help his team with his bat.  Although he doesn’t get on base nearly enough, he is an above average fielder and gives the Blue Jays a stable environment at a position that a stable environment is needed.  This was a move that makes sense for the Blue Jays, but not that good of a move unless they can get Gonzalez to get on base more.
