Cubs sign Todd Hundley for 4 years, $23.5
million
If the Cubs were an American League team this would
be a great move as Hundley would be able to play his natural
position, designated hitter. While fielding may be a problem
for the son of former Cub Randy Hundley, the guy can flat-out
hit. He struck for 24 home runs last season in just 300 at
bats. That translates to 40 home runs over 500 at bats.
However, you're taking him out of the least friendly hitters park of
Dodger Stadium and moving him to the friendly confines of Wrigley
Field. This is a good fit for the Cubs and really adds another
top bat to their lineup. If Hundley wasn't so injury prone
this would be a no-brainer as a home run move. Unfortunately
for the Cubs, he'll spend time on the DL through the 4-year
contract.
