Phillies sign Jose Mesa for 2 years, $6.8 million
The Phillies are braver than I am - Mesa is still living off his stellar 1995 season.
The Phillies are weak in the bullpen, but spending money on a 34 pitcher who hasn't had a good season in four years isn't the answer.
If the Phillies really want to spend money on a free agent reliever, they would be better served to get their hands on Turk Wendell.
Or Jeff Nelson. Or Rheal Cormier. Or even Mark Wohlers.

Grand Slam - A can't miss move; automatically makes
the team considerably better.
Home Run - A great move;
will help the team now and down the road.
Triple - A good move; plugs
a temporary hole or will help in the future.
Double - An average move;
team will get what they paid for.
Single - A head-scratcher;
could help, but we definitely don't see how.
Out - A panic move; tells
fans "hey, we're trying..."
Double Play - A disaster;
will make fans angry just thinking about it.
