Blue Jays trade for Steve Parris

This is a good move by the Blue Jays.  They saw an opportunity where the Reds are trying to cut every corner of their payroll (just look at their managerial disaster), and they took Steve Parris off their hands.  The Blue Jays gave up two marginal prospects for Parris, so this deal is really just about how Parris does for the Jays. He had a down year last season from his career best 1999, but at the very least he is a serviceable bottom-of-the-rotation guy, and at best a very solid number 3 starter, which teams trying to make playoff runs need.  It’s hard to say if the Blue Jays will get the ’99 or ’00 version of the soon-to-be 33-year old right-hander (most likely he’ll fall somewhere in between).  But it was a low risk move that has the potential to help the team.
