Rangers trade for Randy Velarde
Velarde is a pretty similar hitter to Luis Alicea - good on-base skills and a small amount of power. Velarde's defense will be a boost to Texas, whose pitchers induce a lot of ground balls. They gave up some good prospects in Harang and Cullen, but Velarde is a good fit in Texas given the Rangers' disinterest in re-signing
Alicea.
