Padres trade for Santiago Perez

The Padres needed a shortstop, and realistically they can't even afford to make a run at Alex Gonzalez, let alone Alex Rodriguez, so this move made sense.  Perez is only 24, which fills the Padres' desire to find a young, athletic shortstop to team with Chris Gomez this year and eventually take over the starting job.  Perez won't be a star, but he should develop into a solid, Ricky-Gutierrez-with-speed-type player, which makes it worth shipping Brandon Kolb to Milwaukee for him.
